Indira Rana Magar is a renowned Nepalese social worker and politician from Jhapa, who founded Prisoners Assistance Nepal in 2000 to support children of incarcerated parents by providing shelter, education, and rehabilitation programs. Previously a primary school teacher and prison reform advocate, she entered politics with Rastriya Swatantra Party, serving as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2023-2025, and winning the Jhapa-2 seat in the 2026 general election by defeating former Speaker Devraj Ghimire. Her accolades include BBC 100 Women (2017), World Children’s Honorary Award (2014), and Asia 21 Young Leader Public Service Award (2009).
